As many others did, I went outside after nightfall to gaze upon the full moon’s beauty. It was the flower moon, as they call it, the one that calls us to bloom in to the fullness of ourselves. It looked like a carnelian stone, infused with labradorite and glowing…Iba Se Osupa. The moons belong to Yemoja. I gave thanks to Her, and all of the other Divine Mothers…then I was given this message to share.

The total lunar eclipse of May 2022 came on a Sunday night, the day ruled by the king of the Orisa, Obatala. He, who has a few androgynous roads. He, who formed human beings in his creation. He, who forms the children in the wombs o their mothers. He who holds a prototype of every other orisa. There was a double dose of Obatala on the day’s ruling number, 8. The digit of infinity. The day ruled by the sun opened the way for the moon to eclipse it. Interesting. When the clock struck midnight, the day’s rulership of the sun switched to the moon, ruled by Yemoja, She who rules the waters and the moons.

Because the Orisa Obatala represents humility and patience, these are the attributes required to manifest the blessings that this lunar eclipse came to bring. The feminine energies of contraction are high, as while the moon was eclipsing the sun, the messenger planet of Mercury was/is retrograding in His own zodiac house, Gemini. Mercury belongs to Esu, and His hands are in all things. Retrogrades are ideal for rest, reflection, and silence.

This lunar eclipse came in the 8th zodiac house of Scorpio, the fixed water sign of death and rejuvenation. This puts Mars and Pluto at play in the midst of the lunar, or feminine eclipse over the sun. It came in the third decan of the feminine Taurus season, subruled by Capricorn. Lunar eclipses dance on the north and south nodes of the moon. In astrology, the south node represents things you brought with you from your past lives while the north node speaks to the new directions you are learning in your current life. Aligning on this deep of a level in important more that usual because of the energies that 2022 carry, which is a very powerful essence of femininity. This isn’t to shun the masculine principle. If anything it is too remind all of the importance of nurturing the self, others, and ultimately the Earth. Ase.

All the Best,
